Inside Man Spike Makes Movie About White Bank Robber, White People Love It by: Reggie Eggert, for Entertainment
I feel like an introduction is in order, because I can’t escape the feeling that there were a lot of white people who didn’t know Spike Lee is an incredibly talented director. But, since he’s been using a few high profile white actors (Adrien Brody, Ed Norton et. Al) recently and made a couple of flicks that didn’t have black lead characters (25th Hour and Summer of Sam), a lot of white people have been flapping their gums about how great Spike is and how he’s coming into his own. Well, I’m here to put a stop to all that. You can’t have him, white people. Spike Lee has carried black filmmaking on his back for the better part of two decades and you ain’t gonna show up late to this party, talking about “he’s matured as artist” and all that bullshit. Fuck outta here. He was a mature artist when he made Do the Right Thing, which, by the way, is BETTER THAN INSIDE MAN! He was a mature artist when he made Malcolm X, which, by the way, is BETTER THAN INSIDE MAN! He was a mature artist when he made Clockers, which, by the way, IS A BETTER CRIME DRAMA THAN BOTH INSIDE MAN AND SUMMER OF SAM COMBINED AND MEKHI GAVE A BETTER PERFORMANCE IN THAT SHIT THAN ED NORTON GAVE IN 25TH HOUR! Why is no black person in the arts worth a damn until white people say so? If Spike gets nominated for anything other than an NAACP Image Award for Inside Man, I hope he wins and rubs the fucking trophy on his crotch and spits at people in the first row, and then I hope he throws it at Quentin Tarantino’s head. As far as the movie, I loved it. But, I love all of Spike’s stuff, so take my endorsement with a grain of salt. Well, Bamboozled was wack, because he shouldn’t have cast Damon Wayans. Anyway, watching Denzel match up with Clive Owen was better than watching Deniro and Pacino in Heat. I respect Clive for commanding some space in his scenes with Denzel. That was fun to watch. Oh, and I’d like to give a shout out to Jodi Foster’s calves. GODDAMN, GIRL!!! To all the white people who like Spike now, I'd just like you to go see his upcoming documentary on the Katrina disaster. Please find it in your heart. It won't star any big name white people, but it's sure to be a very well-made and thought-provoking film, just like the rest of his work. Thank you, white people.
