FiyaStarter RATING = "Good-Bad Movie," Fiyaballs N/A Movie Review
The Good-Bad Movie doesn’t get an official rating because technically it’s not really a movie, it’s more of an experience --sort of like sky diving, trying a new flavored vodka or taking your first trip to Vegas; it’s just something you enjoy and will always remember regardless of what happened during the process. Now, there’s a fine line between a Good-Bad Movie and a complete piece of shit like say, Soul Plane or one of those Madea train wrecks, just like there’s one between a funny comedian and that one unfunny ass white guy on Comic View, so be careful. Just so you know, a GBM doesn’t always reveal itself to be one off the break. Lord knows the first 30 minutes of MP Da Last Don was looking like pure garbation until Master P wrapped his belt around the trigger of a shotgun and threw it around the corner to blast at his foes. It gave me a new perspective on everything I saw not only after the scene, but everything that preceded it. A few other classic Good-Bad Movies are Chris Rock’s Pootie Tang, and of course the crown jewel of them all, Bill Cosby’s Leonard Pt. 6. Now, knowing what a GBM is, I give you Cam’Ron Giles, fresh off his latest publicity stunt to garner some attention from Jay-Z who ain’t thinking about his ass. That’s really too bad, but if it’s any consolation to Cam, I think his new movie Killa Season is an instant classic in the GBM file. I mean, it has all the qualities: atrocious script with dumb premise and abrupt wack ending, terrible acting from people who either aren’t or have no business being called actors, unintentional comedy and most importantly memorable Good-Bad moments. At one point, Cam who’s a ruthless hustler in Harlem (i.e. the “premise”) witnesses his niece’s murder. It’s the most important scene in the film, not because it made Cam more ruthless, but more so because when the little girl got shot, she paused for a second and then jumped to the left, for no apparent reason…unexplainable brilliance. Also, as a result of the senseless murder, when Killa later finds the real killer, ironically enough with his little girl who just so happens to be the same age as the chica who just got blasted, when the coward flees and leaves the child, instead of shooting the girl to even the street score, Cam SPITS IN HER FACE! Oh, this review is over. If that’s not enough to convince you this movie needs to be copped, then there ain’t shit else I can say to change your mind.
