--Reggie was fired from BET.com for giving a 4-star review to Woo, which is quite possibly the worst movie ever made. Yes, worse than that. Yup, that too. It’s unforgivably bad. Reggie has learned his lesson. He promised not to give any movie with Jada Pinkett Smith in it for more than 20 minutes a rating higher than 2 and ½, because that’s all they deserve.

Why Did I Get Married?
He Black and His Films Make Money.

U MAD? I haven’t seen Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? If you recall, I said that I am never reviewing another Tyler Perry movie. Well, that won’t stop me from recommending it to you.

You heard me. Go see this movie. If you’ve seen it already, go see it again. And again. You wanna know why? Because as much as I love making fun of Perry’s melodramatic, poorly written coonfests, I love watching white folks get mad at all the money he’s making. I love seeing brothers and sisters getting work in his films. I mean, really, who’s hiring Malik Yoba these days? Tyler Perry. Who fucks with Michael Jai White, other than former porn producers who now specialize in straight-to-video Martial Arts/Action flicks? Tyler Perry. Who saw that Jill Scott had the potential to be the next Queen Latifah? Tyler Perry.

Who knew that Tasha Smith, quiet as kept, is one of the most versatile actresses out there? Tyler Perry. Who saved Sharon Leal from having to take a part as the cute lightskin sista in a Wayans Bros. movie? Tyler Perry.

TP is the paradigm of 21st century blackness. He knows that you’re not really successful unless you’re making white folks mad. Maybe that’s why he recently attended a party that Magic Johnson held in honor of Barry Bonds’ record breaking career. Oh, you ain’t hear? Barry and Tyler are good friends. They hang out with Magic and Steve Harvey and laugh at white folks for three hours a day, drinking that ‘Yak and smokin’ Cubans.

Tyler Perry is giving underrated and undervalued black actors and actresses the opportunity and exposure they need. He should be applauded for that. And once he improves as a filmmaker and writer, I may even start seeing his movies again. Until then, I’ll just keep selling the tickets I get for his premier’s to sisters that just came from having dinner and wine, with their girlfriends (at a discount, of course).

So, while I haven’t flopped on my stance of reviewing films from the guy with the mustache that has to be a chore to clean after finishing off a fish sandwich, white people and their anger have me now considering it.
